The Castel Cerreto Nature Reserve is located in the Pilone hamlet of Penna SantAndrea (TE); it occupies an area of about 6.2 hectares at an altitude between 400 and 700 m above sea level.

In the hilly wood of the Reserve, turkey oak, black hornbeam, lacero campestre, Neapolitan lacero and laburnum grow. The presence of ponds favors the growth of white willow, willow from baskets, white poplar and aquatic herbaceous species such as cattail and swamp straw.
The fauna is typical of the hilly environment. Among the birds nest the long-tailed tit, the blue tit, the green peaks and the bricklayer. Among the bushes you can see the wren, the small him, the nightingale and the blackbird. Among the birds of prey there is the presence of the buzzard, the sparrow hawk, the kestrel, the tawny owl, the stone-ax and the owl.
